In May, the Ukrainian Armed Forces recaptured 120 square kilometers more territory than they lost
Despite the record-breaking intensity of hostilities, the Ukrainian Armed Forces managed to improve their positions on the front lines in May. Over the course of the month, during which more than 7,000 combat engagements were recorded, the Ukrainian military regained control of territory that was approximately 120 square kilometers larger than the losses incurred as a result of Russian forces’ offensive operations.
During May, Russian forces took control of about 130 square kilometers of territory, whereas a month earlier this figure had reached 150–160 square kilometers.
At the same time, the Ukrainian Defense Forces regained control and repelled the invaders’ incursions across an area of about 250 square kilometers, whereas in April, 80 square kilometers were liberated.

Thus, the balance of lost and regained control stands at approximately 120 square kilometers in favor of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
This was reported by “Military” citing its own sources within the Defense Forces.
Less than 29.5 million people live in territory controlled by Ukraine, according to a study.
Ukraine’s population is rapidly shrinking, and experts’ forecasts are becoming increasingly alarming.
We have also previously reported that 29 million people currently live in Ukraine. Our country is no longer the second-most populous country of the former USSR.
