Washington insiders see “seismic shift” on Ukraine war policy

The United States is preparing to provide Ukraine with new intelligence to guide long-range missile and drone strikes on Russia’s energy infrastructure. This would expand Washington’s current support and enhance the effectiveness of Ukraine’s existing long-range systems. President Donald Trump has instructed agencies to prepare for intelligence sharing, though he remains opposed to using U.S. taxpayer money, instead urging NATO allies to buy American weapons and supply them to Kyiv.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed he had discussed potential delivery of Tomahawk cruise missiles with Trump. The Tomahawks, with a range of up to 2,500 km, would bring Moscow and other deep Russian targets within reach. Sources described a “seismic shift in attitude” inside Trump’s circle toward more robust backing for Ukraine.

While some U.S. officials doubt limited Tomahawk strikes will alter the battlefield balance, the move is seen as a politically significant step, reinforcing Kyiv’s capabilities and increasing pressure on Moscow.
