Police Officer Svitlana Savchenko died in Zhytomyr following a Russian attack
As a result of the Russian attack on the building of the National Police Headquarters in Zhytomyr Oblast, law enforcement officer Svitlana Savchenko, who had been seriously wounded, died. She was 42 years old.
Svitlana Savchenko devoted more than two decades to serving in law enforcement. Over the years, she worked in investigative and operational units.
In recent years, she served as a senior operative officer for high-priority cases in the Strategic Investigations Department.

The Zhytomyr Regional Police expressed their sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased and emphasized that this Russian crime will not go unpunished.
On August 19, Russian troops launched a double strike on the building of the National Police Main Directorate in Zhytomyr Oblast.
After an air raid alert was sounded, most employees managed to take shelter, but the attack resulted in one fatality and several injuries.
This was reported by the National Police of Ukraine.
As a reminder, Russian forces struck Zhytomyr for the second time in two days. A civilian was injured during the latest attack, and logistical infrastructure was targeted.
