Ukraine’s energy system withstood around 2,000 Russian attacks — Svyrydenko

On Energy Workers’ Day, Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko thanked energy sector employees for their resilience and courage in defending the “energy front.”

She emphasized that since the beginning of autumn, Ukraine’s energy system has faced nearly 2,000 missile and drone attacks by Russia.

Almost a quarter of these were targeted strikes on electricity generation, transmission, and distribution facilities.

Svyrydenko noted that Russia has been trying for the fourth consecutive year to plunge Ukraine into darkness, attacking critical infrastructure daily.

Despite this, energy workers continue to operate around the clock — restoring damaged power stations, repairing networks, and returning heat, communication, and electricity to Ukrainians. According to the Prime Minister, it is these workers who give society confidence that the country will withstand the attacks.

The head of government stressed that the Cabinet’s top priority is stable electricity supply to homes and businesses.

She urged Ukrainians to appreciate the work of energy workers, as their daily dedication ensures that Ukrainian cities remain powered even after the largest attacks.
