Large-scale power outages have been announced in occupied Crimea

On August 31, power outages are scheduled in Simferopol and more than 20 other settlements in occupied Crimea from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The occupying authorities attributed the outage to “emergency repair work” without specifying the cause.

On August 31, power outages were announced in Simferopol and a number of settlements in the Simferopol and Bakhchysarai districts of occupied Crimea. The occupying authorities attribute the restrictions to “emergency repair work.”

According to the published announcement, the power is scheduled to be cut off from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. In Simferopol, dozens of streets, alleys, and lanes, as well as the Zhigulina Roscha neighborhood, are expected to be without power.

The restrictions also cover more than 20 settlements in the Simferopol district, including Gvardeyskoye, Mirnoye, Molodezhnoe, Novoandriivka, Novoselivka, and others. In the Bakhchisaray district, the notice mentions Berehove.

The announcement does not specify what exactly prompted these large-scale “emergency repair works.”

At the same time, the power outages are occurring amid Ukrainian attacks on military and other facilities belonging to the Russian occupiers on the peninsula. Currently, there is no confirmed information regarding a direct link between these attacks and the announced power outages.

As a reminder, in Crimea, the Defense Forces struck Russian drone depots and launch sites.

Ukrainian border guards in the south detected and struck Russian military positions, destroying a number of enemy targets.

Total combat losses of Russian troops since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine—from February 24, 2022, to August 29, 2026—amount to approximately 1,485,200 soldiers.
