Chinese workers in Russia were fined for protesting wage delays

In Komsomolsk-on-Amur, at least four Chinese citizens have been held administratively liable under the provision regarding the organization of mass gatherings in public places. The court rulings pertain to a protest over unpaid wages at the Petro-Hehua enterprise.

This is reported on the websites of the city’s Central and Leninsky District Courts. Specifically, on April 14, Chinese citizen Xin Qi was fined 50,000 rubles for organizing a march of about 150 people who were attempting to meet with officials to resolve financial issues.

The court claims that coordinating the workers’ movement created obstacles for pedestrians and damaged green spaces. The following day, April 15, three more Chinese citizens—Zhou Zhaodan, Guo Guanbei, and Jing Junpeng—received similar penalties.

As a reminder, a mass rally involving over a hundred Chinese construction workers took place on April 12. The protest was sparked by prolonged delays in wage payments to employees of a construction company operating in the region.
