Video: Russian soldiers surrender in Sumy region, urging others to follow
On the Northern Slobozhanshchyna front, two Russian soldiers surrendered and then, using a loudspeaker, called on their comrades to lay down their arms.
According to the 158th Separate Mechanised Brigade, Ukrainian troops used a drone equipped with a loudspeaker to capture two soldiers with the call signs “Gorets” and “Khirurg.” Following this, three more occupiers surrendered.
In total, five Russian servicemen entered the prisoner exchange pool, gaining a chance to survive. The brigade described the incident as unique on the front and urged other Russian soldiers to surrender.
Over the past week, Ukrainian forces have achieved a breakthrough on the front, recapturing more than 200 square kilometres from Russian forces.
Earlier reports indicated that Ukrainian troops launched counteroffensive operations on the eastern front after Russian units were blocked from accessing Starlink terminals. The shutdown created serious problems for the occupiers and opened opportunities for Ukrainian forces to regain positions.
The Ukrainian cyber community delivered a decisive strike against Russian attempts to restore communications via Starlink.
