Video: Russian troops kill their own soldier with a drone for attempting to surrender to the Ukrainian Armed Forces

Russian forces continue to employ the tactic of so-called “blocking detachments”, killing their own soldiers for attempting to save their lives and withdraw from combat.

Another piece of evidence of such actions has appeared online — a video showing occupying forces killing one of their own servicemen.

According to available information, two servicemen from the Russian army decided to stop taking part in combat operations and surrender to soldiers of Ukraine’s 24th Separate Mechanised Brigade named after King Danylo.

The events reportedly unfolded in the same manner for both soldiers. They left their weapons at their positions and ran towards Ukrainian fortifications, where Ukrainian defenders were waiting to carry out the surrender procedure.

However, Russian command, having noticed the retreat of their soldiers via a drone camera, decided to eliminate them. A kamikaze drone was directed at the fleeing servicemen.

As a result, one of the Russian soldiers was caught and killed by a precise strike from his own drone. The second soldier was more fortunate — despite fire from his own side, he managed to reach Ukrainian positions and successfully surrender. He is now safe and will be included in the prisoner exchange pool.

The incident has become yet another indication that, for the Kremlin leadership, its own soldiers are treated as expendable material, and that attempting to surrender often poses a greater danger to them than remaining under fire from the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

“Russians killed their own fighter with a drone while he was trying to surrender to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Two Russian servicemen agreed to surrender to soldiers of the 24th King Danylo Brigade, left their weapons, and ran towards Ukrainian positions. One of them was caught and killed by his own drone. The other managed to make it,” the video caption states.
