Video: Simferopol and Yalta Were Left Without Power After a Drone Attack
On the night of June 24–25, occupied Crimea came under yet another drone attack. Explosions were heard in various parts of the peninsula, and as a result of strikes on energy infrastructure facilities, power was temporarily cut off in Simferopol, Yalta, and Yevpatoria.
Explosions on the peninsula were heard even before midnight. Initial reports mentioned a powerful explosion in the Sak area, followed by another loud blast in the city. Almost simultaneously, social media users reported a strong explosion in the Bakhchisaray district and distant blasts heard in the village of Gvardeyskoye.
At least three powerful explosions were recorded in Simferopol—there had been no gunfire prior to that. Users also reported a series of explosions and gunfire in various parts of the city, as well as drones flying toward the “Kacha” airfield. According to the Exilenova+ Telegram channel, a strike on an energy infrastructure facility in Simferopol was recorded, followed by a power outage—electricity was cut off in the city center for a short time.
In the Krasnoperekopsk district, according to eyewitnesses, the explosion caused windows in apartments to rattle. A separate loud explosion was also heard in the Pervomaisky district.
In Sevastopol, mobile fire teams opened fire on drones flying directly over residential buildings. According to local news channels, the Balaklava Thermal Power Plant was hit. Occupied Sevastopol came under a massive attack by strike UAVs, the Exilenova+ Telegram channel reported. According to the channel, drones were flying in from all directions, and among the targets were the city’s energy infrastructure facilities.
Drones were flying over Zaozernoye near Yevpatoria; attempts were made to shoot them down, but without much success—during the attack, the voltage fluctuated several times, and the power went out briefly. In Yalta, the power supply was completely cut off.
Subscribers also reported drones flying over the Belogorsk and Leninsky districts—the drones were heading toward Kerch. A separate explosion was heard in Armiansk.
According to “Crimean Wind,” the occupying Ministry of Emergency Situations declared a drone threat on the peninsula well after the first explosions had occurred.
