Video: One of the Largest Oil Refineries in Ufa Caught Fire in Russia Following a Drone Attack
On the night of August 1, drones launched a massive attack on the Russian city of Ufa in Bashkortostan, located approximately 1,500 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. Following the attack, a fire broke out at one of the oil refineries, and local residents reported a series of explosions.
Ufa residents reported seeing drones flying overhead and hearing explosions during the night, while monitoring channels warned of the threat of a drone attack.
Later, the head of Bashkortostan stated that Russian air defense forces had allegedly repelled the drone attack and attributed the smoke in the industrial zone to falling debris.
“We repelled yet another UAV attack on Ufa. Smoke developed due to debris from the downed drone that fell in the industrial zone. All emergency services are on the scene and are quickly addressing the situation. There are no fatalities or injuries,” he said.
According to the Astra Telegram channel, the “Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim” oil refinery was attacked.
It is reported that two columns of thick black smoke rose above the facility, which may indicate multiple hits.
“Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim” is part of the Bashneft Group and is one of the key enterprises in Russia’s oil industry. The refinery processes up to 8.2 million metric tons of crude oil per year, producing motor fuel, petroleum coke, liquefied gases, sulfur, and aromatic hydrocarbons.
In addition to Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim, two other large enterprises operate in Ufa’s industrial zone:
- “Bashneft-Novoyl”;
- "Bashneft-UNPZ."
Together, they form the Ufa Oil Refining Complex—one of the largest in Russia, with a combined refining capacity of approximately 23.5 million metric tons of crude oil per year.

There is currently no official information on the extent of the damage to the facilities.

On the night of August 1, the Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out a series of strikes on key military facilities of the Russian occupation forces in the temporarily occupied Crimea and in southern Ukraine. The strikes targeted warehouses, railway bridges, a maintenance base, a radio-electronic reconnaissance unit of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, and other military logistics facilities.
On the night of August 1, drones attacked several temporarily occupied cities in Ukraine. According to reports from monitoring Telegram channels, fires broke out in Zuhres, Berdyansk, Luhansk, Dolzhansk, and Sevastopol following the strikes.
As a reminder, the Russian online marketplace Ozon evacuated employees from its logistics center in Zelenodolsk (Tatarstan) due to the threat of an attack by Ukrainian drones. After the alert ended, the warehouse resumed normal operations.
On the morning of July 31, drones attacked a warehouse complex in Zelenodolsk (Tatarstan, Russian Federation), where the logistics facilities of the Ozon and Wildberries marketplaces are located. Following this, a number of Ukrainian sources reported that strikes on Ozon warehouses might continue.
