The Ukrainian Navy hints at new strikes against Novorossiysk's oil facilities
Ukrainian forces have the technical capability to strike the port of Novorossiysk, which serves as Russia’s largest logistics hub for oil exports.
This was announced during a televised marathon by Dmytro Pletenchuk, spokesperson for the Ukrainian Navy.
A significant amount of energy resources passes through this port, the sale of which allows the Kremlin to finance military operations; therefore, reducing the enemy’s industrial capacity is a priority task to minimize its aggressive capabilities. Pletenchuk noted that due to the change of season, oil export volumes are expected to increase; however, Ukrainian long-range drones are capable of targeting these facilities, hindering the generation of additional revenue during the fuel crisis in Russia. In addition to the economic aspect, combat units of the Black Sea Fleet, which the occupiers withdrew from the temporarily occupied Crimea, are currently based in Novorossiysk.
If the destruction of another frigate is confirmed, only five Kalibr-class missile carriers will remain in the Black Sea, including three surface ships and two submarines. Thus, Russian export and military facilities in this region remain in the crosshairs of Ukrainian forces.
As a reminder, Ukraine has become a drone superpower, and the Russians are currently unable to counter this. Thanks to mass production and the latest UAV technologies, Ukrainian troops are gaining significant advantages on the front lines and in the Black Sea.
Strikes on Ust-Luga and Primorsk cost the Kremlin over $1 billion in oil export revenue in just one week. Shipments through the Baltic Sea have fallen to their lowest level since the start of the full-scale war in Ukraine.
