As a result of an attack on an oil tanker in Russia, there are fatalities and wounded
Two crew members were killed and three others were injured during a drone attack on a tanker in the port of Rostov-on-Don. One more person was killed as a result of a UAV strike on a residential building in Bataysk.
On the night of December 18, UAVs attacked the port in Rostov-on-Don, causing a cargo vessel to catch fire, the regional governor Yury Slyusar reported. Two crew members were killed and three others were injured, he clarified.
A fuel spill was avoided, Rostov-on-Don Mayor Aleksandr Skryabin wrote.
According to information from Ukrainian monitoring channels Exilenova+ and Supernova+, the tanker “Valeriy Gorchakov” may have been hit. The vessel was originally built as a dry cargo ship but was later converted into an oil tanker.
Governor Slyusar also reported a fire in a multi-story residential building in the western part of Rostov-on-Don, which started as a result of a UAV attack. No one was injured there.
The building is located at 33/1 Malinovskogo Street, as geolocated by ASTRA. The city department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is located about 400 meters from it.
In Bataysk, according to Slyusar, one person was killed and seven others were injured as a result of the nighttime attack. ASTRA reports that a residential building at 37A 1st Pyatiletka Street was hit. An electrical substation is located nearby.
