Russia's military casualties have approached 1.5 million

Over the past day, the Russian army has lost approximately 1,400 more troops in the war against Ukraine. Total Russian personnel losses since the start of the full-scale invasion have already reached approximately 1,486,600, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

 

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as of August 30, 2026, the total combat losses of Russian troops amount to about 1,486,600 soldiers. In the past 24 hours alone, this figure has risen by another 1,400. In addition to personnel, the Russian army continues to lose military equipment. Over the past 24 hours, Ukrainian forces destroyed or disabled:

  • 1 tank;
  • 7 armored combat vehicles;
  • 59 artillery systems;
  • 2 multiple-launch rocket systems;
  • 1 air defense system;
  • 6 ground-based robotic systems;
  • 1,963 operational-tactical-level unmanned aerial vehicles;
  • 394 vehicles and tankers;
  • 4 units of specialized equipment.

Since the start of the full-scale war, the Russian army has lost 12,311 tanks and 25,248 armored combat vehicles, according to General Staff estimates. Additionally, 48,833 artillery systems, 2,072 multiple-launch rocket systems (MLRS), and 1,594 air defense systems have been destroyed. In terms of aviation, Russia’s losses amount to 440 aircraft and 354 helicopters.

 

Russian forces have also lost 488,347 operational-tactical-level drones and 5,060 cruise missiles. At sea, according to the Ukrainian General Staff, Russia has lost 35 ships and boats, as well as two submarines. Ground-based robotic systems are tracked separately in the statistics—their losses total 2,435 units.

The largest number of new losses over the past 24 hours were drones and ground vehicles. At the same time, the General Staff does not provide separate details regarding the circumstances of the destruction of each piece of equipment. The Ukrainian command emphasizes that the data on Russian army losses are preliminary and subject to revision. Thus, after more than four years of full-scale war, the total losses of Russian troops, according to estimates by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, have approached 1.5 million personnel.
