The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant has lost its external power supply

UA NEWS 11 June 2026 11:31
The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant has lost its external power supply

The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, currently occupied by Russian invaders, once again lost its external power supply during a large-scale air raid alert and switched entirely to emergency diesel generators.

The incident occurred due to yet another massive shelling by military units of the Russian Federation

Currently, all critical safety systems at the nuclear facility are being maintained solely through autonomous internal reserves, as the plant remains completely without power.

The national energy company Ukrenergo and relevant experts note that as a result of enemy strikes, the high-voltage power line supplying the nuclear power plant’s own needs was cut off.

They are currently unable to conduct an operational inspection of the damaged section or begin repair work on the power line.

The main obstacle to restoration is the lack of adequate security conditions due to ongoing hostilities in the area.

Ukrainian authorities and international observers have expressed serious concern over the systematic targeting of civilian infrastructure.

“Another loss of external power at the occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant poses a threat to nuclear and radiation safety,” the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy officially stated.

The current complete power outage at the massive industrial complex is now the nineteenth since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.

This was reported by the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.
