Zelensky and Syrskyi visit the forward command post in Kupiansk
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky arrived at the forward command post of the 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Roman the Great in Kupiansk.
This was reported by the President’s Office.
Together with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, he met with the soldiers and congratulated them on the Day of the Ground Forces.
The head of state personally heard a report from Commander Anatolii Lysetskyi on the current operational situation.
Lieutenant Colonel Lysetskyi gave a detailed account of the successful defense of the left bank of Kupiansk and the coordination with neighboring units. Russian assault forces failed in their attempts to gain a foothold in the city — their command is feeding lies both to the top leadership in Moscow and to their own soldiers.
The occupiers launch attacks “blindly,” unaware of the real situation, while Ukrainian forces firmly hold their positions.
Zelensky spoke with the soldiers defending Kupiansk, discussing key tasks. He thanked the defenders for their dedication and presented state awards — the Bohdan Khmelnytsky Orders (1st and 3rd Class) and the Orders “For Courage” (1st–3rd Class).
“I congratulate you on your day — the Day of the Ground Forces of Ukraine. An important day. A day important not only for you — I am sure it is important for all your families, loved ones, and for all of Ukraine,” the president emphasized.
He noted that many soldiers have been holding the front without interruption since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
“I deeply appreciate how you defend Ukraine, our state. Without you, we would have simply lost it,” Zelensky added.
