Zelenskyy spoke about the expansion of Russian forces on the front lines and Russia’s plans for Donbas
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia is changing its approach to waging war and is bolstering its forces on Ukrainian territory by drawing on strategic reserves.
He made these remarks during a closed-door meeting with journalists.
According to Zelenskyy, Ukrainian forces are killing roughly as many Russian soldiers each month as Russia is mobilizing, yet the total strength of the occupying forces continues to grow.
He explained this by noting that Russia is deploying units from its strategic reserve that had not previously been used in combat operations.
The President of Ukraine called this move by the Kremlin risky, as it could weaken the defense of Russia’s borders with other countries.
According to him, the Ukrainian military command, together with its partners, is analyzing ways to counter this strategy.
During a meeting with Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi and Commander of the Joint Forces Andriy Hnatov, updated enemy maps were reviewed.
Zelenskyy noted that Russian troops aim to capture a number of cities in the Donetsk region by the end of April, including Druzhkivka, Kostiantynivka, and Pokrovsk.
At the same time, the president emphasized that such plans are unrealistic, and Western intelligence agencies also do not see a possibility of their implementation within the set timeframe.
As a reminder, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine is ready to respond symmetrically to the Easter ceasefire announced by Russia.
Russian troops are already deploying strategic reserves to conduct combat operations in Ukraine, which is leading to an increase in the number of occupation forces on the front lines. This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a conversation with journalists.
