Zelenskyy: Ukraine is strengthening the defense of its cities; decisions have already been made for Dnipro and Odesa

Ukraine is strengthening its defenses against Russian attacks amid massive strikes on various regions.

This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

According to him, specific decisions have already been made to strengthen the defense of Dnipro—this includes additional radars, electronic warfare systems, and new crews. Steps have also been identified for Odesa, where, despite a high rate of target interception, the effectiveness of air defense must be further improved.

The president noted that Russian troops are attempting to bypass Ukrainian air defense through the sheer scale and intensity of their attacks.

Zelenskyy added that Ukraine is working daily with partners to obtain additional components for air defense systems, particularly to counter missile strikes.

According to him, in just one day, the enemy attacked Ukraine with more than 400 drones, over 200 of which were of the “Shahed” type. Most of them were destroyed—air defense forces shot down 388 drones.

On the night of May 1, Russian troops carried out an attack on port infrastructure facilities in the Odesa region. The Izmail district came under fire.

In addition, Mykolaiv was again attacked by Russian drones. Homes in the residential sector were damaged, and a fire broke out. An air raid alert remains in effect in the city, and residents are urged to remain in shelters.

In Dnipro, a bus was destroyed and a residential building, a store, and cars were damaged as a result of the strike. There is also damage in Zaporizhzhia.
