A Tyumen resident was sentenced to 8 years for donating 155 hryvnias to Ukrainian Telegram channels

The Central District Military Court in Yekaterinburg sentenced Mikhail Antonovich, a 57-year-old resident of Tyumen, to 8 years in a strict-regime penal colony in a case involving the financing of terrorism through paid posts on Telegram.

According to the Russian investigation, the man sent 130 “stars” totaling 292.99 rubles (about 155 hryvnias) to the Telegram channels of Michael Naki, Alexander Nevzorov, Taras Berezovets, and Alexander Shpak.

Specifically, he left 30 “stars” worth 55.4 rubles (about 29 hryvnias) under a post about the attack on a Russian ammunition depot on the Kinburn Spit, and another 22 under a post with recommendations on the safe use of paid features. The prosecution claimed that these channels spread “propaganda of terrorism” and provide media support to Ukrainian units.

In addition, Antonovich was accused of sharing information about the shutdown of mobile internet in Tyumen in the fall of 2025. Security forces detained the man in December 2025, and in early 2026, he was added to the list of “terrorists and extremists.” The human rights organization “Memorial” recognized him as a political prisoner.

In Russia, a court handed down harsh sentences to two people accused of financing the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including a Ukrainian citizen residing in Moscow. Both were sentenced to lengthy prison terms and fines; the charges relate to money transfers that investigators link to aid for the Ukrainian army.
