Ukrainian Forces control Kupiansk, Russian troops in encirclement unable to act

In Kupiansk, Kharkiv region, a small group of Russian troops remains encircled and is unable to conduct active operations, Viktor Trehubov, head of communications for the Joint Forces, said during a televised marathon.

“Kupiansk is under Ukrainian control. A small group of Russians—essentially a single unit—remains in a few high-rise buildings in the city centre. They are alive but incapable of any active operations beyond self-preservation,” Trehubov stated.

According to Trehubov, Ukrainian forces have pushed Russian troops out of the outskirts of Kupiansk. The remaining Russian soldiers are attempting to move east toward Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi.

“Russian propagandists claim that Russia has captured Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi, but their forces have not even approached its administrative boundary,” he added.

Trehubov noted that Russian troops are probing Ukraine’s border at various points in an attempt to expand their control. Enemy activity has been observed in the directions of Vovchansk, Lyman, and Kupiansk.

“The main goal of the Russians is to establish a control zone along the border. Two years ago, they dreamed of a zone several kilometres deep. Now, they are trying to cross at least some section of the border and occupy any settlement along it,” Trehubov emphasised.

Meanwhile, the situation in southern Ukraine remains tense, although no significant changes on the front line have been reported. The most challenging conditions are observed in the Huliaipilske direction, where around 15 clashes were recorded over the past day.
