The Ukrainian Armed Forces eliminated a United Russia lawmaker who had gone to fight against Ukraine
Angelina Podkopaeva, a deputy from the Aksai District of the Rostov Region of the Russian Federation, was killed in the war a few months after joining the Russian army.
The 42-year-old politician signed a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense in January 2026. At the time, she stated that she wanted to personally understand what those fighting in the war were going through.
Prior to this, Podkopaeva had been involved in volunteer work and regularly delivered humanitarian aid to Russian occupiers.
News of her death emerged in June. She is survived by two children—a 12-year-old daughter and a 16-year-old son.
Ukrainian defense forces continue to successfully hold the city of Lyman in the Donetsk region, which is strategically important to Russia as a gateway to Sloviansk and Kramatorsk. Thanks to the coordinated actions of units integrated into the Third Army Corps, the situation has been fully stabilized, and the enemy has been pushed significantly further back from the outskirts.
Russian invaders have significantly intensified their offensive operations along the entire front line, engaging in 240 combat clashes with Ukrainian defenders over the course of June 7.
