On the front lines, the Ukrainian Defense Forces killed a Russian occupier, mixed martial arts fighter Jihad Yunusov, who had previously been involved in a scandal over the beating of an elderly woman. This is according to propaganda outlets.

 

According to a source, the controversial athlete had been fighting in the war against Ukraine for no more than a month.

Earlier, in late May 2026, Yunusov announced his decision to go to war against Ukraine. Shortly before that, he found himself at the center of a scandal after beating an elderly neighbor in the stairwell of an apartment building in Grozny. It was reported that the athlete splashed coffee in the elderly woman’s face and then struck her. Subsequently, media outlets reported that the woman’s daughter was also injured as a result of the altercation.

During his professional MMA career, Yunusov fought in 27 bouts, winning 19 and losing eight. He competed under the nicknames Ivan the Terrible, The Wild One, and The Evil One, and during the war, according to a source, he used the call sign “The Beast.”

It is noted that Yunusov took part in combat operations as part of an assault group and was killed during an attempted advance.
