The Armed Forces of Ukraine scale up the use of drones and ground robots at the front

The Armed Forces of Ukraine have officially moved from experimental developments to the systematic deployment of robotics along the line of combat engagement.

At a briefing on March 5 at Ukrinform, representatives of the Armed Forces, Colonel Vitalii Dobrianskyi and Major Andrii Kovalov, reported that over the past 15 months, there has been a significant expansion of units working with ground robotic platforms.

Currently, robotic systems perform tasks such as evacuating the wounded, providing logistical support, and accompanying assault operations, which minimizes the presence of personnel in the most dangerous zones.

An important focus remains the development of anti-“Shahed” solutions and drone interception systems, which are already being supplied to the troops in series. Military leadership predicts that during 2026, the main challenges will be concentrated in cyberspace and air defense. In addition, there has been active use by the Russian Federation of Asian-made weaponry, including missiles and aerial attack systems, which forces Ukraine to rapidly adapt technological approaches and strengthen cooperation between developers and combat units.

“Ukroboronprom” has signed a series of cooperation memorandums at DFNC3.

The Ministry of Defense has codified and approved for use in the Armed Forces of Ukraine a new FPV unmanned aerial system, the “General Chereshnia.”

The Ministry of Defense has also codified and approved for operational use in the Armed Forces of Ukraine a new Ukrainian-made unmanned aerial complex, the B-1. These ultra-light bombers are designed to strike concentrations of personnel, vehicles, and armored equipment.
