For the First Time Since 2024, the Armed Forces of Ukraine Liberated More Territory in a Month Than the Enemy Captured
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, summed up military activities for February 2026.
According to him, the Ukrainian army achieved a historic milestone, regaining control over a larger area of land than the enemy managed to occupy during the same period.
A key success was the counteroffensive operation in the Oleksandrivka sector, where units of the Air Assault Forces are operating.
In just one month, the troops regained 285.6 square kilometers of territory under Ukrainian control, and the total result of the operation has already exceeded 400 square kilometers.
On other sections of the front, the Armed Forces maintain a strategy of active defense, which not only holds back the enemy but also allows for occasional forward advances.
Syrskyi emphasized that the army constantly analyzes its mistakes and works on strengthening its combat capabilities.
An important factor in the success was preemptive strikes against enemy rear infrastructure using DeepStrike systems.
In February, 85 strategic targets were destroyed, resulting in a cumulative effect — the total oil refining capacity in Russia decreased by 24.8%.
The Commander-in-Chief paid particular attention to a successful strike on the Votkinsk plant in Udmurtia, which is critically important for the enemy because it produces Iskander-M missiles, Oreshnik rockets, and other weapons used to shell Ukrainian territory.
Systematic destruction of drone arsenals led to an 18% decrease in the intensity of Russian FPV drone operations in February.
At the same time, Ukrainian drones completed over 293,000 combat missions, demonstrating technological superiority on the battlefield.
“Not everything comes easily, but the Armed Forces of Ukraine withstand the pressure, build up capabilities, analyze mistakes, and work to correct them,” the general stated.
He added that the missile troops and aviation carried out more than 330 precision strikes on enemy positions in total.
It is worth recalling that President Zelensky reported that this winter, the Armed Forces held all key defensive positions.
Additionally, near Kupiansk, the Armed Forces neutralized a group of Russian soldiers who were attempting to mine a road.
