Amazon suspends operations with 21 Air after cargo plane crash in Miami, US
Amazon has suspended operations with cargo carrier 21 Air after a plane operating a flight for the Amazon Air logistics network crashed in Miami, US. While landing at Miami International Airport, the aircraft veered off the runway and collided with several vehicles on the ground. Five people were killed in the crash, Channel NewsAsia reports, citing Reuters.
Amazon's decision
Amazon spokesperson Kelly Nantel told Reuters that following the tragedy, the company supported the investigation and examined the circumstances of the incident. As a result, Amazon decided to suspend operations with 21 Air, the operator of Flight 7598.
According to Nantel, the company will continue to support the investigation and the people affected by the crash. Miami-based 21 Air operated the flight for Amazon Air, Amazon's cargo logistics network.

Course of the investigation
The crash is being investigated by the US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). Last week, the agency said that after touching down, the pilots considered aborting the landing. The NTSB reached this conclusion based on flight recorder data.
The NTSB also noted that one of the pilots warned that the aircraft's speed was too high slightly more than a minute before landing. The plane was a 32-year-old Boeing 767-300 freighter. According to Flightradar24, it was used as a passenger aircraft by various airlines from 1994 to 2015.
The cargo aircraft was operating its third flight of the day and arrived in Miami from San Juan, Puerto Rico. Before that, it flew the Cincinnati–Miami and Miami–San Juan routes. 21 Air told Reuters that it supports the families and loved ones of those affected, is cooperating with the NTSB, Amazon and other partners, and remains confident in its safety policies, procedures and training.
