American bank Centerview Partners terminated analyst Katherine Shieber after she requested eight hours of sleep per night due to a sleep disorder. Despite her willingness to work 14 hours a day, seven days a week, the employee was quietly dismissed for advocating for adequate rest. She has now filed a lawsuit against the bank.
Court testimony revealed that first-year analysts at the bank are expected to work between 80 and 120 hours per week, often staying up until morning.
