Nigerian Army prepares to intensify operations against separatists in the southeast
In Nigeria, the commander of the Army’s 82nd Division, Major General Oluremi Fadairo, said that the military will continue operations against separatist groups in the country’s southeast. According to Premium Times Nigeria, he also announced preparations for more intensive dry-season operations as part of Operation EASTERN SANITY II.
Commander’s statement
Fadairo, who also heads the Joint Task Force South East — Operation UDO KA, made the statement during a visit by participants of the 10th course of the Nigerian Army War College to the headquarters of the 82nd Division in Enugu.
According to the commander, the security situation in the division’s area of responsibility is relatively stable and under control. He claims that troops are weakening the operational capabilities of the Indigenous People of Biafra, the Eastern Security Network, and other groups that the military calls criminal.

Fadairo said that intelligence operations, active patrols, and targeted clearance operations had made it possible to eliminate the groups’ hideouts and restrict their freedom of movement in the region. At the same time, he stressed the need to continuously assess operations, use intelligence data, and adapt security measures to eliminate residual threats.
Dry-season operations
According to Fadairo, during Operation EASTERN SANITY II, the military plans to maintain pressure on criminal networks and prevent the resumption of their activities. He said that the armed forces would take lawful and decisive measures against individuals whose activities, in the military’s view, threaten national security.
The program for the college participants’ visit included trips to sector areas of responsibility, a visit to the National War Museum, staff exercises, and presentations on the results and challenges of Operation UDO KA. Participants were also provided with information on ongoing peacebuilding processes aimed at strengthening stability in southeastern Nigeria.
