Attal kicked off his presidential campaign in France with a call for sweeping reforms — Politico

Gabriel Attal, the presidential candidate for the ruling Renaissance party, officially launched his campaign with a large-scale rally in Paris.

This was reported by Politico.

The politician publicly pledged to radically reform the current government system, which, in his view, no longer meets the real needs of the French people.

In his speech to voters, Attal emphasized that for many decades the country has been trapped in a cycle of ineffective decisions.

He sharply criticized the approaches of previous governments, which focused only on preserving old problems instead of developing the state’s potential.

The politician stressed that an obsession with covering past expenses hinders vital investments.

“We must open ourselves to the future… because the system is currently sacrificing it. The risk, if we remain trapped in this model, is a generational divide,” Attal stated.

Experts note that his campaign strategy closely resembles the successful campaign of the Netherlands’ liberal Prime Minister Rob Jetten in October 2025.

At that time, the Dutch leader staked his campaign on an optimistic view of the future, protecting the interests of young people, and boosting national pride.

The French candidate named the restoration of the country’s leadership position on the international stage as the main geopolitical goal of his program.

He aims to transform France into the main technological and economic hub of the European continent. The speech placed particular emphasis on the development of digital technologies and cutting-edge innovations.

“My first promise is that we will once again become Europe’s leading force within six years. That is our standing, our place, our destiny,” he assured.
