The bassist of the Australian band Bugs is expected to live another 3–4 months
Jordan Brunoli, the bassist for the Australian band Bugs, said that in June, his oncologist estimated he had three to four months to live. The 30-year-old musician from Brisbane was diagnosed with stage IV colorectal cancer last year, and the disease has since continued to spread.
According to ABC News Australia, the oncologist told Brunoli that chemotherapy was no longer effective and that he may eventually need to be referred to palliative care. The musician noted that this news did not come as a complete surprise to him, but he still finds it difficult to come to terms with the situation. He said he is determined to keep living and tries to do more every day.
Brunoli described the past year as emotionally difficult. He said he went through a period of depression, became more withdrawn, narrowed his social circle, and stopped responding even to close friends. Recently, the musician said, he has come to terms with what is happening. He is being supported by his partner and his bandmates in Bugs—Connor Brooker and Brock Weston.

Brunoli recently celebrated his wedding with his loved ones. At the same time, he and the band are preparing to release Bugs’ first album in several years—*Head Noise*. Brooker said that the band members have already had difficult conversations about their colleague’s condition but are trying to focus on what they still want to achieve together.
Bugs have also announced two concerts at Crowbar in Brisbane in September to coincide with the album’s release. Brunoli said he plans to perform at these shows, even if it’s physically difficult for him to take the stage. He also noted that his greatest fear isn’t death, but rather that he won’t be able to make the most of the time he has left.
