Most Britons oppose the U.S. going to war with Iran
According to a YouGov poll conducted for Sky News, the vast majority of British citizens do not support their country joining a U.S.-Israeli military operation against Iran.
Specifically, 70% of respondents opposed entering the conflict, while only 17% approved of such a move. Public sentiment also reflects a critical attitude toward Donald Trump’s actions: 57% of those surveyed believe the U.S. president’s decision to launch a military campaign was a mistake.
British society is divided in its assessment of Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s response to the events surrounding Tehran. About 41% of citizens are dissatisfied with his position, while 37% consider it correct. Only 11% of respondents believe that the U.S. operation will make the world safer, while 34% predict a deterioration in the global security situation. While Russia is closely monitoring the fluctuations within Western alliances, the data indicates significant skepticism among Britons regarding the advisability of direct intervention in the Middle East conflict.
The Estonian government has not ruled out the possibility of joining a military mission aimed at restoring free navigation through the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
Prior to this, Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten stated that the country does not plan to join an international mission to ensure security in the Strait of Hormuz in the near future.
The Finnish Navy has officially stated that it is unable to deploy its combat units to the Strait of Hormuz to participate in an international mission.
