Bobby Pulido plans final concert before congressional election — Rolling Stone

Texas Tejano performer Bobby Pulido plans to give his final concert on October 17 in Edinburg, Texas, and focus on the election to the U.S. House of Representatives. He is running in Texas’ 15th District against incumbent Republican Representative Monica De La Cruz, whom Rolling Stone describes as an ally of Donald Trump.

Final concert

As Rolling Stone reports, Pulido said he is ready to stop performing if voters elect him as their representative in Congress. At the same time, he did not rule out holding occasional charity concerts in the future to raise money for causes important to him.

Pulido is a two-time Latin Grammy winner who was born in Edinburg. His father, Roberto Pulido, was a renowned Tejano performer, while his mother, Diana Montes, is the daughter of norteño accordionist Mario Montes. The singer is also awaiting a decision on a possible third Latin Grammy for the live album Bobby Pulido & Friends: Una Tuya y Una Mía.

Campaigning at quinceañeras

After De La Cruz remarked that this was a congressional race, not a selection of a performer for her niece’s quinceañera, Pulido’s team invited families to send invitations to such celebrations marking girls’ 15th birthdays. According to the publication, the campaign received more than a thousand invitations, and Pulido attended more than 75 events.

At quinceañeras, he dances a waltz with the birthday girl, performs the song Desvelado, and campaign volunteers can register people interested in joining the campaign.

The candidate’s views

Pulido believes Democrats need to speak more with South Texas voters about economic success and family well-being, rather than limiting themselves to issues of social justice. He also said he holds conservative views on certain issues, including guns, but supports safety measures in this area.
