Bulgaria has officially joined the PURL program
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked Bulgaria’s partners for this decision and noted that it will help Ukraine strengthen its air defense system ahead of the upcoming heating season.
The head of state made this statement during a joint press conference with Bulgaria’s interim Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov in Kyiv.
"I am also grateful for the positive signal that Bulgaria is joining the PURL program. First and foremost, the signal itself is important here. Second, this is an opportunity for us to strengthen our air defense strategy ahead of the upcoming heating season," he noted.
Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine and Bulgaria maintain good-neighborly relations.
"I am grateful for Bulgaria’s direct, transparent, and clear support for Ukraine regarding our future accession to the European Union. Thank you for such a consistent policy," he added.
As a reminder, Ukraine and Bulgaria have signed a security cooperation agreement.
On Monday, March 30, Bulgaria’s interim Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov began an official visit to the Ukrainian capital.
Ukraine and Bulgaria are working on launching a passenger rail service through Romania.
