US House Democrats urge PM Netanyahu to counter settler violence — Anadolu Agency
In the United States, a group of House Democrats appealed to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, urging him to take immediate action against settler violence in the occupied West Bank, protect Palestinian communities, and investigate attacks involving US citizens.
In a letter dated September 24, the lawmakers expressed concern over the escalation of violence. As Anadolu Agency reports, the letter’s authors believe that settlement expansion and violence could affect Israel’s long-term security and the prospects for peace, prosperity, and freedom for Israelis and Palestinians.
Data on attacks and deaths
According to data cited in the letter, the number of attacks by Israeli settlers, including incidents involving Palestinians and Israeli security forces, increased by 27% in 2025. The number of serious incidents in the first half of 2026 was 63% higher than during the same period a year earlier.
The lawmakers also cited UN data stating that 1,122 Palestinians, including civilians and combatants, were killed in the West Bank and East Jerusalem from October 7, 2023, to July 24, 2026. According to them, Palestinians have killed 67 Israelis in the West Bank since the beginning of 2023.

The authors of the appeal noted that since January 2023, settler violence has led to the displacement of residents from 107 communities, affecting about 6,000 Palestinians. They also cited UN data on more than 1,380 settler-related incidents in over 250 Palestinian communities since the beginning of 2026.
Demands addressed to Israeli authorities
Members of the House of Representatives called on the Israeli police and the Israel Defense Forces to protect Palestinian communities during attacks regardless of who the attackers are. They also urged the establishment of a transparent and credible mechanism for investigating and prosecuting violence against Palestinians, including Palestinians with US citizenship.
The letter states that nine US citizens have been killed in the West Bank since January 2022, and, according to the lawmakers, no one has yet been held accountable for these deaths. The letter’s authors asked for the outstanding investigations into these cases to be completed, further settlement approvals to be halted, and the dismantling of illegal outposts in the West Bank to continue.
