Former Hungarian Foreign Minister Szijjártó Could Face Up to Three Years in Prison
Hungarian police will investigate a case involving a possible bribe accepted by former Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó. If found guilty, he could face up to three years in prison.
The case was transferred from the prosecutor’s office to the Budapest Police Headquarters, as that agency is authorized to conduct the further investigation.
The prosecutor’s office noted that the information contained in the statement may indicate signs of a crime related to bribery.
Since Szijjártó is no longer a member of parliament and does not enjoy parliamentary immunity, he could face criminal charges if found guilty.
