The EU may close its chicken market to Ukraine's main competitor — Euractiv

Starting September 3, 2026, the European Union will impose a ban on imports of meat products from Brazil.

Euractiv reports this, citing European Commission spokesperson Eva Hrnčirová.

The reason for this decision was the country’s failure to demonstrate compliance with strict European standards regarding the use of antibiotics in animal husbandry.

European Commission spokesperson Eva Hrnčirová officially confirmed that Brazil was not included in the updated list of countries that meet safety standards.

Under EU rules, farmers are strictly prohibited from using antimicrobial substances to promote livestock growth.

The restrictions will apply to a wide range of products, including beef, poultry, horses, eggs, and aquaculture products.

Brazil is required to guarantee that animals have not received prohibited substances throughout their entire life cycle.

The EU has stepped up its crackdown on Russia’s shadow fleet and Belarus’s financial schemes

Belarus continues to build infrastructure facilities deep within its territory and is not moving them closer to the Ukrainian border. At the same time, it cannot be ruled out that Russia may use these facilities in the future to deploy additional forces and equipment.

Journalists have established that Belarus continues to play a significant role in supplying the Russian military-industrial complex, providing chassis, electronics, and other key components for the Russian Armed Forces’ equipment. The volume of these supplies in recent years is already measured in billions of dollars.
