European airlines are cutting back on flights to the Middle East

European airlines continue to cancel and restrict flights to the Middle East. The reason is the unstable situation and airspace issues. Some routes are closed for weeks or even months in advance, according to CNN.

Several major European airlines have announced the extension of restrictions on flights to Middle Eastern countries. This includes, in particular, flights to Israel, the UAE, Bahrain, and other destinations. The airlines cite the security situation and instability in the region’s airspace as the reasons.

British Airways stated that it is forced to continue reducing flights due to “uncertainty” and “instability in the airspace.”

Specifically, flights to Amman (Jordan), Bahrain, Dubai (UAE), and Tel Aviv (Israel) have been canceled through May 31. Flights to Doha (Qatar) will not operate through April 30, after which they plan to resume, but with a limited schedule. It is also reported that flights to Abu Dhabi are set to resume only on October 25. Meanwhile, flights to the Saudi cities of Riyadh and Jeddah are continuing for now.

French carrier Air France has also extended its restrictions. The company noted that this is due to “the security situation in the region and the closure of part of the airspace.” Flights to Dubai and Riyadh have been canceled until March 20. Flights to Tel Aviv and Beirut will not operate until at least March 21.

Germany’s Lufthansa has also revised its schedule. The company has suspended flights to Tel Aviv until April 9. Flights to Riyadh have been canceled until April 5. Airlines emphasize that decisions may change depending on the situation in the region. Passengers are advised to check the status of their flights before traveling. Thus, due to instability in the Middle East, air service remains limited and schedules are subject to change.
