European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that stability in the Middle East cannot be achieved without an end to the fighting in Lebanon.

Von der Leyen called on the parties to respect Lebanon’s sovereignty and immediately cease hostilities.
She also noted Pakistan’s role as a mediator in negotiations between the U.S. and Iran, while warning that further escalation could derail diplomatic efforts.
Separately, she emphasized the importance of uninterrupted shipping in the Strait of Hormuz for the global economy.
