The Lithuanian Foreign Minister condemned the bloody terrorist attack in Kyiv
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys officially responded to the tragedy in the Ukrainian capital and expressed his deepest condolences to the families of the victims.
The high-ranking official assured Ukraine of the Lithuanian people’s unwavering support during this difficult time.
The head of the Foreign Ministry emphasized that such acts of aggression against the civilian population are unacceptable.
Budrys stressed that the international community must respond firmly to acts of terrorism that destroy the lives of ordinary citizens.
“We express our sincere condolences to the residents of #Kyiv in connection with the horrific shooting that claimed the lives of at least six people and resulted in numerous injuries,” the Lithuanian Foreign Minister wrote on his page on social media platform X.
The Lithuanian minister also emphasized that “there is no justification for such violence.” These words became part of Vilnius’s official position on the events in Kyiv, where six people were killed in an armed attack.

The attack took place on Saturday, April 18, when 58-year-old Dmytro Vasylchenkov opened fire on passersby on Demiivska Street, after which he took hostages at the “Velmart” supermarket. Six people were killed in the attack, and about 15 others were injured to varying degrees.
Earlier, a video appeared online showing police officers fleeing from the shooter during the terrorist attack in Kyiv on April 18, leaving civilians behind, including a child.
At the instruction of Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko, an internal investigation has been launched into the actions of patrol officers at the scene of the shooting in Kyiv. For the duration of the investigation, the police officers involved in the incident have been suspended from duty.
