The situation around the Strait of Hormuz
The agency also notes that tensions in the region intensified after the United States and Israel began strikes on Iran on February 28. According to Anadolu Agency, Tehran responded by carrying out missile and drone strikes on Israel and US interests in the region.
In June, Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding on freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. At the same time, implementation of the document stalled due to disagreements over security measures in the strait.
