ICPC Chairman Musa Adamu Aliyu said the result was an encouragement to continue institutional reforms and measures aimed at strengthening transparency. According to him, an anti-corruption institution should not only demand transparency, accountability and integrity from other state bodies, but also uphold these principles in its own work.
What the index assesses
The index assesses the disclosure of financial information, procurement and contract data, personnel information, anti-corruption measures and mechanisms for engaging with citizens. It also takes into account the availability of budget and financial documents, information on employee recruitment, anti-corruption and whistleblower protection policies, as well as opportunities for citizens to obtain information and participate in public processes.
According to the results of the 2026 assessment, only eight of the 518 institutions scored above 50%, while four surpassed the 70% mark. The index results were presented on September 28 in Abuja. CeFTPI established this annual ranking in 2021.
