According to sources, this division is behind the blocking of messaging apps and communication restrictions, which have been intensifying since 2025.
Additionally, representatives of the service have allegedly been given carte blanche by the authorities to “restore order” on the internet.
In March 2026, FSB officers attended meetings with telecom companies, where they demanded immediate action against tools used to bypass blocks.
According to market participants, companies are effectively being forced to comply with these demands under threat of sanctions.
In addition, inspections targeted payment services—they were ordered to cease transactions related to VPN payments.
In the Belgorod region of the Russian Federation, mobile internet was completely shut down.
