Iran is strengthening security at its nuclear facilities, according to CNN

Iran has stepped up security around its stockpiles of highly enriched uranium by setting up booby traps and blocking access to underground storage facilities.

According to sources, in recent weeks Tehran has been deliberately destroying the entrances to underground tunnels, further fortifying storage facilities, and making access to potential uranium stockpiles more difficult.

This involves approximately half a ton of material that could be used to create nuclear weapons.

Sources note that following U.S. President Donald Trump’s statements regarding the possibility of military action, access to the facilities has become “significantly more difficult and dangerous.”

According to US officials, negotiations are considering a deal that would involve transferring enriched uranium to US control, its subsequent destruction, and the removal of materials from Iranian territory.

At the same time, according to sources, the parties have not reached an agreement on the final terms.

International experts suggest that part of Iran’s stockpile may remain in damaged or collapsed underground tunnels, particularly at the facility in Isfahan.

Former U.S. nuclear security officials warn that even under international supervision, Iran could retain partial access to the materials or challenge the completeness of their accounting.

CNN reports this, citing five sources in U.S. intelligence.

The IAEA Board of Governors adopted a resolution requiring Iran to immediately provide information on its uranium stockpiles. The decision marks another step in international pressure on Tehran amid the escalating situation surrounding its nuclear program.
