Israel has barred dozens of Ukrainians from leaving the Gaza Strip

Israel has barred dozens of Ukrainians from leaving the Gaza Strip

There are still about 40–50 Ukrainian citizens and their family members in the Gaza Strip who are unable to evacuate to their homeland.

Official Jerusalem does not allow them to leave the conflict zone, restricting their departure for security reasons.

Most of these individuals were previously on the relevant evacuation lists.

However, Israeli authorities have blocked their transit through Egyptian or Jordanian territory, imposing strict verification requirements.

The main reason for this decision is that a significant number of these people do not have valid documents proving their identity or confirming their Ukrainian citizenship.

To resolve this humanitarian issue, Ukrainian diplomats have launched active legal efforts directly in the region.

Currently, the Ukrainian Embassy in Israel and the Mission to the Palestinian Authority maintain constant contact with our compatriots.

They provide citizens with the necessary consular assistance and continue to work diligently with the relevant Palestinian authorities to document family members.

This was officially stated by Georgiy Tykhyi, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, in response to an inquiry from LIGA.net journalists.
