Israel struck a major petrochemical complex in Iran

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that Israeli forces had attacked Iran’s largest petrochemical complex, located in Asaluyeh. According to him, this dealt a significant economic blow to Tehran.

This was reported with reference to Reuters.

According to the Iranian news agency Fars, several explosions were heard in the area of the "South Pars" petrochemical complex in Asaluyeh.

According to the Tasnim news agency, facilities supplying the area with electricity, water, and oxygen were hit. At the same time, the Pars petrochemical company itself, according to Iranian sources, did not sustain any damage.

Following the attack, power was cut off to all petrochemical facilities in Asaluyeh.

The strike on Asaluyeh was the latest in a series of attacks on Iran’s energy infrastructure. In March, Israel had already struck the South Pars gas field and related infrastructure in the same area.

At that time, the attack targeted Iran’s main energy source and provoked a response from Tehran in the form of strikes on energy facilities in the Middle East.

Iran dismissed Trump’s peace initiatives.

U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he had received a message from the new leader of the Iranian regime requesting a ceasefire. Trump is willing to consider such a possibility only on the condition that the Strait of Hormuz is fully opened for the free and safe passage of ships.

As a reminder, the IRGC announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and is threatening a “harsh response” to ships.

The Strait of Hormuz could also become the “Trump Strait.”
