China to Introduce Weekly Off-Campus Practical Classes — ECNS

Schools across China will introduce at least half a day of off-campus practical learning every week. Tian Zuyin, director-general of the Department of Basic Education at China’s Ministry of Education, stated this at a press conference in Beijing, ECNS reports.

Weekly practical learning

The official spoke on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at a press conference held by the State Council Information Office in the Chinese capital. According to him, the new format will be used in schools across the country.

The minimum duration of off-campus practical learning will be half a day per week. These will be regular classes that schools will include in their educational and teaching plans.

Adaptation to conditions and grades

Schools will be asked to determine how to conduct such classes taking into account local conditions and different educational levels. At the same time, these sessions must be integrated into the regular planning of the educational process.
