According to South China Morning Post sources, the exact topics planned for discussion have not been disclosed. The last meeting of this kind between Chinese military and EU officials took place in Beijing two years ago.
At that time, the consultations mainly focused on the crisis in Ukraine, tensions in the South China Sea, and issues surrounding Taiwan. These talks were an important part of China’s engagement with European and transatlantic partners.
Holding these discussions signals China’s desire to play a more active role in addressing global security challenges and maintaining communication channels amid complex international security circumstances.
The upcoming talks may prove pivotal in clarifying positions and finding ways to de-escalate conflicts, especially given the complex geopolitical situation in the Middle East.
