Netanyahu in Israel declares intention to defeat Iran — Jerusalem Post

In Israel, near the border with Syria, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the country would not allow any armed group, which he described as terrorist, to establish itself near its border. He also reaffirmed his intention to defeat Iran during a visit to Mount Hermon, the Jerusalem Post reports.

Statements on Mount Hermon

Netanyahu called preventing such groups from approaching the Israeli border one of the monumental achievements attained in the War of Revival. He also stated that Israel controls the territory from the summit of Mount Hermon to the Yarmouk River and to the Mediterranean Sea.

According to the prime minister, the main task remains the defeat of the regime in Iran, which he called terrorist. Netanyahu also expressed the view that the Iranian axis would eventually collapse.

The prime minister received an operational briefing from Northern Command chief Major General Rafi Milo and Commander of the 210th Division Brigadier General Yair Peli.

Assessments of a possible attack

Netanyahu's statements came after assessments by Israeli bodies reported by the publication. According to them, Iran is allegedly preparing for a large-scale coordinated attack on Israel from several directions simultaneously. According to these assessments, Tehran seeks to involve Hezbollah in Lebanon, Hamas in Gaza and the West Bank, the Houthis in Yemen, and pro-Iranian groups in Iraq in a single offensive.

The cause of the explosion has not yet been established. It was separately reported that a Syrian civilian reached the area of an Israel Defense Forces post in the southern Golan Heights, where he was detained and handed over for questioning.
