Finnish police likely contacted truck driver in moped rider’s death case
Police in Varkaus, Finland, have most likely made contact with the truck driver linked to a fatal accident involving a moped. The crash occurred on Thursday, killing a 15-year-old boy.
Contact with the driver
According to YLE News, law enforcement officers have most likely located the driver and spoken with him by phone. According to the duty investigation supervisor, Eastern Finland Police criminal commissioner Aki Hartikainen, the man has not yet been formally questioned.
According to police, the driver is a Finnish man. Law enforcement did not specify whether he contacted police himself or was found by other means.

Police assessment
Police preliminarily believe that the driver did not notice the accident and therefore continued driving without stopping. Investigators also assess that the 15-year-old boy riding the moped did not end up under the front of the truck.
There is currently no video footage of the incident.
