Ghana Police train 45 participants ahead of Traffitech-GH launch — MyJoyOnline

In the city of Ho, Ghana, the country’s Police Motor Traffic and Transport Department trained 45 police officers and public-sector representatives ahead of the launch of the Traffitech-GH project on October 1. The project provides for the use of an automated system to monitor compliance with traffic rules.

Final training session

According to MyJoyOnline, the training took place on September 24 in the conference hall of the Stevens Hotel in Ho. It was the fifth and final session in a nationwide series of training programs organized by the police together with a private-sector partner.

The program involved personnel from the Ho Police Motor Traffic and Transport Department, as well as representatives of the Judicial Service, the National Road Safety Authority, the National Insurance Commission, and the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority.

Automatic detection of violations

Participants were briefed on the provisions of the Road Traffic Regulations, 2026, L.I. 2519, and the Road Traffic (Amendment) Act, 2025, Act 1153. Particular attention was paid to automatically detected violations and the fines provided for under Regulation 242.

The program also covered the operation of Traffitech-GH and the procedure for appealing automatically detected violations. Some back-office personnel in the Volta Region received practical training in using an in-vehicle camera and the Lasercam4 handheld or tripod-mounted speed enforcement camera. Police said the regional back office had already been established at the regional Motor Traffic and Transport Department office in Ho and equipped with updated Traffitech-GH software.
