Polish authorities mistakenly sent an attack alert to the wrong province

An error occurred in Poland during the distribution of an alert regarding a Russian air attack on Ukraine. The alert, which was intended for residents of the Lublin Voivodeship in the east of the country, was mistakenly sent to residents of the Lubusz Voivodeship, located on the border with Germany.

On the evening of October 5, Poland’s Government Security Center reported an error in the distribution of an RCB Alert regarding an air threat. The agency noted that the warning applied exclusively to the Lublin Voivodeship, and that its distribution to residents of the Lubusz region was a mistake.

The Government Security Center apologized to all recipients of the erroneous messages, noting that such a notification could have caused concern and prompted people to take protective measures.

Residents of the Lublin Voivodeship were warned of a Russian air attack on Ukrainian territory. The message stated that the situation was under control and that the country’s air force was operating in Polish airspace. It later became clear that residents of the Lubusz Voivodeship had also mistakenly received the alert.

The Lubusz Voivodeship is located in western Poland and borders Germany directly, while the Lublin Voivodeship is in the east of the country and shares a border with Ukraine that stretches nearly 300 km.

The Government Security Center emphasized that the warning applied exclusively to the Lublin Voivodeship and apologized to residents of the other region for the concern and inconvenience caused by the erroneous alert.

This was reported by the Polish Government Security Center.
