Poland explained why it has not yet delivered MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine

Poland has not yet delivered the promised MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine, but it is ready to do so. The main obstacle remains the lack of funds needed to modernize these aircraft.

According to him, the biggest problem in this whole matter is their modernization.

“At the moment, we do not have the funds for modernization. But the Polish side has declared its readiness to transfer them in exchange for corresponding assistance from the Ukrainian side, so this issue remains relevant. I hope that in the coming weeks we will see some progress on this front,” Bondar explained.

At the same time, the ambassador noted that he does not want to get ahead of himself, as announcements have been made several times before, only for nothing to happen afterward.

Vasyl Bondar, Ukraine’s ambassador to Poland, spoke about this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.

Poland is accelerating negotiations with Bulgaria regarding the MiG-29s.

We previously reported that Poland had suspended the transfer of MiG-29s because it first wants to obtain drone technology.

Polish President Karol Nawrocki confirmed the possibility of exchanging MiG-29 fighter jets for Ukrainian anti-drone technology.

Poland plans to transfer up to nine of its MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine as part of its support for Kyiv to defend against a full-scale Russian invasion.
